Preloved Marketplace
At Her Hair My Head, we understand that buying alternative hair online can be tricky and it is easy to get things wrong. We have made numerous expensive mistakes when buying toppers and wigs, and it is often hard to know if a piece is right for you until you try it on.
Many brands do not allow refunds or charge people to return pieces, so you can be left with a topper or wig that you simply won’t wear. That’s why we have created a secure preloved marketplace for you to buy and sell gently worn toppers and wigs. Plus, buying second-hand is good for your wallet and for the environment!
How it works – buying
Browse our selection of preloved toppers and wigs and buy online through Her Hair My Head’s website. We quality-check all of our preloved pieces and note any faults or signs of wear & tear on the listing.
Preloved pieces are exchange only (swap for a different piece or a credit note) and are not eligible for a refund. Please let us know within 7 working days if you want to exchange the piece. You must send the piece back to us within 14 working days from the delivery date to be eligible for an exchange.
How it works – selling

STEP 2 - pay the £50 listing fee
We charge £50 per piece to create your listing. This is non-refundable. If your piece sells, we take a 25% commission from the final sale price. By paying the fee and submitting the form, you are agreeing to these terms. Once you have filled out the form, you will be sent a submission confirmation with a link to make the £50 listing payment.
STEP 3 - send your piece to Her Hair My Head in the post

**We receive a lot of preloved pieces in the post, so please make sure you include your name and contact details inside the parcel, so we know who it is from.**
When we have received your piece, we style and photograph it, then create a listing on our website. We will also promote the listing on the Her Hair My Head social media pages and via email marketing, as well as in our private members-only Facebook group.
TERMS OF SERVICE
Charges
We charge £50 per piece upfront to create your listing. This is non-refundable. If your piece sells, we take a 25% commission from the final sale price. By paying the fee and submitting the form, you are agreeing to these terms.
Once someone has bought the item, and after the 14-day returns window, we will send you your money via bank transfer. We will keep the listing live until the piece sells. If you would like us to reduce the price, please email: georgina@herhairmyhead.co.uk
Cancellations
You can decide to cancel your listing at any time and have the piece returned to you, but we charge a fee (£10 for UK addresses, £25 for international addresses) to post your topper/wig back to you. However, if we have already sold the piece and it has been sent to the buyer, we cannot cancel the sale.
Postage
The seller must cover the cost of sending the piece to Her Hair My Head and any customs charges if you are not based in the UK. We are not liable if your piece is lost during transit. In this instance, please take up a claim with your postage provider (e.g. Royal Mail, Parcelforce etc). It is the seller's responsibility to choose the appropriate type of postage that covers the full cost of your piece if it is lost. In the UK, we use Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed 1pm.
Condition
We sell wigs/toppers that are in brand new condition or gently used. We will sell pieces with minor signs of wear and tear, but these should be clearly listed on the Preloved Sales Form and also reflected in the selling price of the piece. We have the right to refuse to sell a piece if we believe the condition is not good enough. Please ensure that you wash, dry and brush your piece before posting it to us. If we receive a piece that has not been washed and we have to wash it ourselves, we will charge a fee of £20.
Top tips for pricing your piece
If a wig/topper is brand new and unworn then we suggest selling it at 20-30% below the recommended retail price (what you bought it for new). If the piece has been gently worn, we suggest a selling price of 40-50% of the recommended retail price – dependent on the condition.
As a general rule, human hair pieces are much more likely to sell if they have not had a fringe cut into them. We do sell pieces with fringes, but these are harder to sell as the fringe has been cut to suit the original owner.
We have found that human hair pieces that are priced at under £500 will sell fastest. The only exception is pieces from well-known and sought-after brands, such as Highline Wigs, Lusta, TrendCo and Follea, which do sell for higher amounts.
Brand new synthetic pieces (with the original label) are much more likely to sell, as these pieces show signs of wear much faster than human hair. Synthetics that have only been worn a few times also sell well, but well used synthetics are harder to sell.
If you have done anything to your piece after purchasing it, including having it cut and coloured, please put this on the form. It is also useful to know if a professional hairdresser did the work, the brand that you bought the piece from or if you modified it yourself.
Unbranded pieces are harder to sell than pieces where you know the brand name and wig/topper name and exact colour. We are able to measure the length and also describe the cap construction, but knowing the brand, name and colour are very helpful.
Please be honest in your form. We have an extensive knowledge of wigs and toppers and we can tell if a piece has been worn or altered – even if you say it is brand new.
